TASTE AND IMAGINATION FOR FAMILIES AT BELFAST TASTE & MUSIC FEST
In another first of its kind for Northern Ireland, organisers of the Belfast Taste and Music Fest have announced that Chicago based Team Spatulatta will be making their UK and Ireland debut at the forthcoming culinary event of the summer!
This multiple award winning team run a website dedicated to helping teach kids to cook through video clips. The hosts of the webcast are sisters Liv (11 years old) and Belle (13 years old), who are also the two youngest James Beard award winners, which are deemed the Oscars of the food world. Their Spatulatta Cookbook, which features recipes from around the globe, has also sold 75,000 copies in the USA and was one of the New York Times '10 must-have' children's cookbooks.
At the event Liv and Belle will be giving demonstrations in the Flogas Kitchen including kid friendly, healthy recipes simple enough for a child to make and tasty enough for the whole family to enjoy!
The event runs from 6th to 9th August 2009 in Botanic Gardens and visitors can look forward to world-class culinary delights as a number of elite chefs from Northern Ireland welcome Chicago Ambassador Chefs for a cultural exchange creating the largest al fresco restaurant in town!
Diversity is the key to the delicious menus on offer as together these chefs showcase their own specialities and create wonderful dishes from Chicago as well as local delicacies and dishes – using the best of Northern Irelands local produce.
A great line up of staged live entertainment will also including Rumours of Fleetwood Mac, Classic Clapton, Flash Harry and Peter Corry to name a few as well as the Strictly Come Dancing band and dancers Camilla Dallerup and Ian Waite.
Over 35,000 people are expected to attend this unique event, which is organised by Connie Cunningham, who previously organised the Belfast Taste Fest in the nineties. This year she has revolutionised this event to bring a special added touch of ‘Taste and Imagination', creating an event like no other which brings together the best of Northern Ireland and Chicago's culinary expertise.
Belfast Taste & Music Fest is supported by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, Belfast City Council, Coca Cola Bottlers, Guinness, Department for Social Development, Stephens Catering, Flogas, O'Kane, Kettyle Irish Foods, Linden Foods, Dale Farm and Illy.
