Alan started his career in catering working in his mothers restaurant in Ballyclare, Co. Antrim. After a lot of encouragement he decided to take it a step further and attended Belfast College of Catering, were after two years he got a start in the then infamous ‘Nicks Warehouse'. Training under the supervision of the great man himself, Nick Price and his then sous chef Simon McCance, Alan developed his own style and creativity culminating in his first Head Chef position in the very popular ‘Dish' on the Ormeau Road, Belfast.
After meeting up with former Nicks colleague, Adrian Lowry, they decided to go it alone and No 27 was born. Since opening Alan has expanded his knowledge and experience through working with former partner Jason More and has now added a more classic spin to his food.
Since opening in December 2007, No 27 has fast become one of Belfast's busiest premier eating establishments and continues to prove that the fresh and funky city brasserie style (influenced by London and Barcelona) was definitely something Belfast was missing. To add to this, No 27 was recently voted Best Restaurant at the 2009 Fate Awards, a fantastic reward for all its hard work.
Ultimately, Alan and his team continually strive to develop new techniques and source fresh new produce from local suppliers to drive No 27 forward. Our goal is always to provide quality and excellent food with an informal yet knowledgeable service. So far so good and long may No 27 continue to be in Belfast's top flight of catering excellence.
