Jose's current position is Executive Chef at White Eagle Golf Club, where he have been for the last two and half years. The country club is a welcome change after so many years in the hotel industry.
Jose is a graduate of Washburn Trade School, in Chicago and has been a member of the American Culinary Federation, Inc. since 1982 and received his C.E.C. Certified Executive Chef Certification in 1988. On July 10, 1999 he was inducted into the American Academy of Chef's. (A.A.C.)
Jose's early career progressed through several career enhancing executive chef and management experiences and later as an executive with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. Jose climbed the ranks of Starwood and became one of the most successful Executive Chef's and Food and Beverage Directors in the company. After ten years with Starwood Hotels, Jose decided to try a taste of the club life and was recruited by La Grange County Club in La Grange, Illinois where he worked for four years.
Jose has to offer, over 30 years of culinary experience. In 1993 he was honored to receive the Chef of the Year award from the A.C.F. Chicago Chef the Cuisine Assoc. and was a featured speaker for the National Restaurant Association "CHEFS STAGE." In 1994, he was part of the VISION U.S.A. Culinary team that took a gold medal in Seoul Korea. He participated in 1996 on the international ice carving competition in Osaka, Japan and took 2nd place he has returned to Japan on three other occasions to compete, and brought home medals each time. In his younger years he competed in many culinary competitions, culinary salons, and numerous ice carving events.
