Tony Hu

Tony Hu (Xiaojun Hu) is the executive chef/president of "Tony Gourmet Group", and has five restaurants in Chicago and Milford areas in the US.

In 1989, Tony graduated from Culinary Institute of Szechuan in China. He had three years experience as the executive chef at Shudu hotel in China. During that, he opened "Chengdu restaurant", which was his first restaurant. Starting from 1993, Tony was the executive chef of Szechuan House in Chicago for four years.

During the past twenty years, Tony always had a dream to have an authentic Chinese restaurant offering savory cuisine at very reasonble prices. In 1997 Tony opened his first Lao Szechuan in Chicago Chinatown offering very authentic Szechuan cuisine. Now he has two more breaches, one is at Downers Grove, other one is at Milford. In JAN 2008, he opened another two restaurants, Lao Beijing and Lao Shanghai , these offer authentic North cuisine and Shanghai cuisine. Because of the authentic dishes he offers, Tony's group became well-known by customers all over the US; also acknowledged by many Chinese and American media.

Tony's signature dishes featured on many news channels, such as CBS, NBC, ABC, WGN, WTTW, FOX, Channel 13 and 23. Tony even hosted his own cooking show every Sunday night on Channel 13 and wrote for "China Star" newspaper every Friday in the "Popular Menu Items" column. His group is recognized by the motto "One style for one dish, a hundred dishes have a hundred different tastes." In 1999, it was recognized by the Chicago Tribune as "one of the best". It was selected to be "The best authentic Chinese Food" by Zagat Survey. Chicago Tribune critic Mr. Philvettel thought it was "Top ten spots for spicy food" and Chicago magazine recommended best restaurant and best dishes.
